As a member of the Vocera engineering team, you will be focused on automating tests of Vocera’s wearables and associated services. This position will report to the Sr. Director, Device Engineering.ResponsibilitiesPlan, design, implement and execute effective automated functional and system tests applying current and emerging automation frameworks within project timelines to ensure correct outcomes while exposing defects for the UI and OS layers and services of wearable devices.Leverage SOLID design principals, design patterns, and apply them to address specific product requirementsReproduction of specific customer scenarios, create issue reports with in-depth analysis to root cause problems.Generate various reports with the goal of improving product qualityParticipate in and seek continuous learning through peer reviewWork with Vocera quality champion to create test strategiesAssist with the support, troubleshooting, escalation, and resolution of issues arising from internal testing or external defect reportsCollaborate effectively with Development Team(s), Release Engineering, DevOps, IT, Tech Support, and Professional ServicesDocument relevant processes and designsFollow development and QA best practices and processesCompetenciesUnderstanding of various non-functional aspects in system design such as the ability to provide test a solution to optimize performance and scalabilityAbility to rapidly learn and take advantage of new concepts and technologiesAbility to create test tooling that orchestrates testing of asynchronous microservicesSolid understanding of software testing concepts and best practicesAbility to plan, design, implement, and execute effective functional, system, and automation testsExperience working in an Agile/Scrum development process using Jira and ConfluenceStrong team player comfortable working with geographically distributed and cross functional teams and willingness to mentor less experienced team membersStrong troubleshooting, communications, and documentation skillsProactive in the face of ambiguous requirements; unafraid to explore new ideas and technologiesResourceful and able to solve problems through practical use of technology and a solid understanding of product architectureExcellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skillsRequirementsBA or MS in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent5+ years of hands-on automation framework development and test development experienceStrong knowledge of programming in Python, Java, or C++ with advanced understanding of data structuresGood understanding of OS layers and concepts, especially related to LinuxKnowledge of test automation frameworks (Python, BDD, Selenium, JUnit)Experience of any Android/IOS device application automation is preferredExperience of Bluetooth testing is added advantageExperience using wireless capture tools like Wireshark and OmnipeekTrack record of delivering high quality technical results within committed time parametersNo travel required_Belief in Diversity_Vocera Communications is an Affirmative Action Employer committed to workforce diversity.
