As a Development Manager, you are required to lead & manage a portfolio of complex initiatives that span one or multiple lines of Storage and High-Availability solutions for applications across varied ecosystems & technologies. At the same time, mentoring and motivating the team members to excel in project goals, adhering to their ownership, responsibilities and accomplishments along with establishing quality standards
The ideal candidate for this job will be a seasoned engineering manager with experience and strong eye for business, good technical expertise, forward-thinking people & soft skills along with considerate operational skills.
What you will be doing?
Lead, manage and coach teams to build solutions to cater to High-Availability, Clustering and Disaster-Recovery capabilities for enterprise applications/workloads spanning across varied ecosystems and platforms (on-prem, cloud, virtualization, containers)
Ability to possess and maintain a current understanding of Software Defined Storage industry and other new technology trends related to cloud and containers and associated native and enterprise workloads and applications.
Lead and build initiatives around secure coding practices and implementation across ecosystems.
Play a substantial role in the broad business and operational planning & roadmap, working closely with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders like product management, architects to deliver on business targets. Help form long-term technical, business strategy and goals.
Collaborate with customer support, sales, and the field team in addressing unmet customer needs with flagship Storage & High-Availability product.
Evangelize Veritas Appliance & SDS products portfolio (with presentations to the field, blogs, articles etc)
Assist in customer POCs/demos on product solutions by collaborating internally and externally with partners/customers and field engineers.
Demonstrate high levels of optimal decision making skills with stakeholder alignment in best business interest.
Lead all aspects of multi-functional projects in an Agile environment to ensure that the overall program is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives of the larger team and business priorities and goals.
Inculcate industry standard software development & testing practices to deliver optimal quality solutions.
Actively participate in growing a strong engineering organization by hiring hardworking people and assisting in career development, mentoring individuals and helping guide the career growth of the team members by implementing considerate retaining and rewarding strategies.
Perform all people management functions by performing substantial performance evaluations characterised by setting a high bar with clear goal settings for each team member and apply the right standards for rewards and recognition.
What skills, experience and education you need as a team member to succeed?
Bachelors/Master’s degree (BE/BTech/BS or ME/MTech/MS) in Computer Science or equivalent
Overall 10+ years of relevant industry experience. Direct people management experience, and previous experience leading engineering teams of at least 10 people.
Shown ability to lead multi-functional teams in implementing complex projects.
Strong understanding for enterprise business requirements and how to solve them by demonstrating evolving data center, cloud, storage, information management and enterprise software technologies.
Strong technical understanding and prior experience with high-availability, clustering and applications along with working knowledge on various public/private/hybrid cloud & container technologies is preferred.
Prior experience of leading a large enterprise product team and implementing project management principles
Ability to apply technology solutions to business problems coupled with outstanding organizational skills and multitasking capabilities.
Proven ability to work in an ambiguous environment and collaborate across multiple areas in order to achieve a common business objective
Experience promoting Agile development methodologies including peer review, Test automation, continuous integration and delivery and TDD.
Experience influencing and gaining consensus from executive sponsors, team members, partners and peers
Strong Team-building skills with both technical and non-technical staff
Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demand
Excellent inter-personal, communication skills, and experience in managing brought up customer situation and customers.
