Job Title: Research Analyst, OA
Location: Pune
The Open Access team is responsible for overall OA revenue and strategy, including performance monitoring, policies, business model migration & transformative agreements. Working in close coordination with sales & publishing teams, our team supports all areas of Springer Nature’s OA ambitions and strategy. The role will support the business transition to open access through data analysis and project support.
Data collection, cleaning and analysis
Data capture, cleaning, and analysis for annual post-publication compliance checks for Wellcome/ UKRI-funded articles, including augmenting internal data with data from external A&I databases and repositories, and manual checks.
Any other ad-hoc data collection and analysis required.
Market research and analysis
Desk research to locate and review institutional and funder OA policy documents and capture details in Springer Nature’s OA funding and policy database.
Producing reports and analysis using data from the OA funding and policy database, including monthly stats on numbers of OA funds and common criteria.
Researching details of funder or institutional policies on specific topics to support strategic decisions and Springer Nature policy.
Competitor and market research to support policy, pricing, and commercial projects and product development.
Any other ad-hoc reporting and analysis required.
Project Support
Contribution to various projects the OA team leads/contributes to (data collection, cleaning and analysis, contributing to presentations, taking minutes/actions, etc).
Additional responsibilities
Author Support
Second line policy/funding-related email support and triage/flagging of queries to the relevant colleagues.
Update lists of OA funding sources on external websites, to align with the data in the database.
Experience
Background in data analysis and interpretation desired. Background in an open access and commercial environment would be a bonus.
Skills and Knowledge
Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (data cleaning, analysis and visualisation)
Knowledge of other analytical software such as SQL/Tableau would be a bonus
Ability to create/contribute to memorable, clear, and influential presentations (Powerpoint/Google Slides)
Thorough and detail-oriented
Versatile learner who absorbs quickly when facing new problems
Strong project management and organisational skills
Adaptable and flexible
Ability to meet deadlines
Proactive with an ability to get things done. Passionate and results oriented. Team player.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with quantitative and analytical background (e.g. Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Computer Science etc.)
