The Role
SAP SuccessFactors is seeking a Release and Program Manager to support and grow our Release Management team. You will be instrumental in defining and improving the Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC) for our different Cloud offerings, besides being responsible for the successful delivery of the SuccessFactors products to our customers. This is a highly visible role and the right candidate will inspire and motivate our teams to deliver world class solutions. The Release and Program Manager in our Release Management team will be responsible for compliance with all product delivery guidelines and the ongoing improvements to the PDLC for our large-scale SaaS solutions. The candidate must have a strong background in managing projects / programs and should also come with significant technical expertise in the area of CI/CD.
Key responsibilities include:
Continuously improve the SuccessFactors PDLC on our exciting journey from a 6-months release cadence to continuous deployment
Own and govern the PDLC phases across all releases for our monolith and microservices alike
Be responsible for compliance: Ensure all SuccessFactors’ products meet corporate requirements and product standards like Security, Performance, Accessibility etc.
Support product portfolio planning using OKRs and Agile best practices
Develop common strategies and measurements for release governance across multiple departments
Actively contribute to successful release decisions and the deployment of all new releases to our significant customer base
Update and refine the patch process for bug-fix deliveries – automate the approach by leveraging the latest pipeline and tool capabilities
Foster the adoption of the current release train concept for microservices, while you help build out the pipeline capabilities for the targeted CI/CD architecture
Interface with various senior stakeholders in Operations, Engineering and Product Management to support a continuous delivery and feature rollout
Role Requirement
Bachelor or master’s degree in Computer Science and/or Business Administration with over 8 years of experience in the industry.
5+ years project management experience with accountability for end-to-end delivery
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong leadership presence with good understanding of organizational behavior
Good power point skills – ability to develop effective visuals with efficiency
Advanced knowledge of Agile practices including Scrum and Scaled Agile / SAFe
Good experience with Jira required; knowledge of Aha! is a plus
Versed in development and environment / pipeline tools like Splunk, GitHub, Jenkins, Kubernetes
Knowledgeable in microservices delivery mechanisms e.g. via release trains
Experience with the Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tool chain and processes
Formal training in project management practices preferred (PMP Certification)
Experience with organization-wide OKR practice is a plus
