Create, maintain, and develop a sales pipeline through a combination of cold and warm calling, email campaigns, and industry knowledge. As its name suggests, the business developer is in charge of increasing his company’s sales. To do so he/she can use various channels and spend a significant part of his time prospecting. His objective is to secure new contracts with existing clients or convince new clients. To gain valuable work experience by undertaking all aspects of work involved in business development
A business internship is very valuable for a student as they can turn into practice what they have learned at the university
The hands-on tasks and experience that you will receive include but are not limited:
Organize and support proposal development meetings;
Provide support for data calls, information gathering and support proposal development activities;
Support business development knowledge management systems;
Track client solicitations and business forecasts to maintain an awareness of the competitive landscape.
Finding ways to expand product and services
Evaluating the business’s strength and weaknesses, increasing sales through lead generation, marketing and corporate strategies; identifying and contacting prospective customers, promoting a business online, creating proposals and contracts
Do data-mining and other reports as requested to acquire new business opportunities.
Other duties as assigned by business development analyst and/or manager
Based on the type of program undertaken, but the Interns for this field should have exceptional interpersonal, organizational and sales skills. Business Development Internships normally accept those incumbents who are pursuing their final year of a degree or those who are fresh graduates in the field of Information & Technology (preferable), marketing, sales or business administration.
Proficient verbal and written communication skills
Support Executive Management team with special projects.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Prepares tailored drafts for templates
Prepare draft biographies for proposed bid personnel
The Business Development (BD) Intern will demonstrate ability and ease with multi-tasking in a deadline-driven, high-demand proposal environment. Additionally, the BD Intern should be an effective communicator who feels comfortable taking direction and guidance from Business Development Leadership. Excellent editing, strong document formatting, demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills are a must. The BD Intern should be self-motivated, organized, solution oriented, and passionate about contributing to global development initiatives.
