Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure team is building new Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team can provide you the opportunity to build and operate a suite of massive scale, integrated cloud services in a broadly distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment.
The VMI Data Plane team aims to provide a rich set of services and tools to enable building and deploying of Cloud Services for VMI Data Plane in Hypervisor Fleet and manage the entire development and deployment lifecycle. Oracle’s VMI Data Plane is one of the foundational offerings of this organization.

What does the position offer
We’re looking for hands on Engineering Managers with expertise and passion to build and lead teams that can participate solving difficult problems in distributed systems, cloud native technologies and building new services to solve customer pain points

You work on a team that owns the design, development, and operations for major components of Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure in the Cloud Native space.
You should be a distributed systems generalist, able to architect broad systems interactions, while being very hands-on, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and lower level system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.
Minimum Qualifications
3+ years of experience managing delivering and operating large scale, highly available, distributed systems.
Good knowledge of Go or Java, and experience with scripting languages such as Python.
A strong understanding of the architecture of the commonly available IaaS solutions and how they fit together. The candidate should have actively contributed in past for the design changes and architectural enhancements.
Exposure to deployment on Azure, AWS and GCP is a big plus
A good understanding of the container technology like Docker and container orchestration technology like Kubernetes. Familiarity with managed Kubernetes service like Google Kubernetes Engine, Amazon Kubernetes Service will be an added advantage.
10+ years of experience in Software Development
3+ years as a people manager.
Managing senior engineers and managers a big plus
Experience in building teams from scratch a big plus
Excellent analytical skills coupled with an bias for action
Demonstrated skills or willingness to work on Operational Efficiency of services would be a plus

Bachelors or Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science
Prior experience with operating and building services would be a big plus
The candidate should have DevOps exposure and is expected to be on call escalation matrix
Should have a bias for action and should be willing to take ownership of a problem and solve it to completion.
Willingness to deal with ambiguity and see “beyond the curve�
Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.
Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
