Charges : Charge entry involves entering appropriate and accurate information, data, and values as part of a patient’s medical records. This may include medical and billing codes and insurance. The data entered helps calculate the amount that is reimbursed to the patient by the doctor, hospital, or other health care service
Payment: All payers either send an EOB (explanation of benefits) or ERA (electronic remittance advice) towards the payment of a claim. The medical billing staff posts these payments immediately into the respective patient accounts, against that particular claim to reconcile them.
