The Driver Software team at NI R&D is seeking an experienced, deeply knowledgeable, highly accountable & fully hands-on Staff Software Engineer to contribute towards the research & development of software products. The team is responsible for owning, building, testing, and releasing the driver code. The main focus is to improve the efficiency of these actions so we can release more often with higher quality code. The primary responsibilities in this position include working with engineering teams to release high-quality drivers with improved efficiency by defining, developing, documenting, and testing new features.
The Staff Software Engineer position is a challenging role within NI dealing with diverse engineering skills to solve problems, execute tasks, and develop features to create high-quality products.
The ideal candidate is deeply technical with experience and knowledge developing & deploying world-class software products for global customers in multi-cultural & dynamic teams. A person is dynamic & comfortable adapting to changing needs and adept at deriving clarity from minimum requirements.
The role demands diverse engineering & leadership capabilities including the ability to communicate & collaborate effectively within & other global teams to gather requirements, generate clear specifications, brainstorm solutions & create new or sustained existing NI products as per the business needs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Own driver SW releases and increase efficiency
Develop tools and infrastructure to improve engineering productivity
Independently lead the feature(s) through release. Design and implement moderate to high complexity features r to a high level of quality
Facilitate decisions necessary to deliver a quality product in a timely fashion
Define and prioritize tasks for the team and leverage resources to complete tasks on time
Review code and design of junior engineers and provide high-quality feedback
Implement and test features to ensure a high level of code quality.
Evaluate project testing strategies and contribute to writing effective test plans.
Develop and maintain feature documentation
Collaborate with other teams in the org in different geographical locations
Meet challenging deadlines while ensuring code quality
Identify key risks to projects and propose mitigation options.
QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Qualifications:
2 –6 years of industry experience with a demonstrated ability in problem-solving, diagnosing technical issues and proposing reasonable solutions.
B.E/ B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech/MCA in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Electronics and Communications/ Telecommunication.
Familiar with text-based programming languages, preferably C/C++/Python, and development experience on Linux and Windows platforms.
Experience working with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment tools & processes
Strong understanding and experience of software design principles.
Experience developing device drivers and strong debugging skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead project teams through release cycle(s).
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of Agile software development principles
Experience in identifying, elaborating and implementing tests for large features
Experience in Verification and Validation of Products
Demonstrated ability to:

Effectively interact and communicate with engineering teams and management.
Work effectively in a diverse, multi-cultural group development environment.
Problem-solving skills, including effectively diagnosing technical issues and proposing reasonable solutions.
