Full Job Description
We are looking for a talented Senior Sofware Engineer for the R&D Engineering function of Medtronic Engineering and Innovation Center R&D facility for our Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure (CRHF) Software division. This individual will work with other engineers, developers, and database administration personnel in the organization to develop code to support the data management team and execute on the designs established by the Data Management architect. The right person for this position will be a proactive, self-starting, strong software developer.
A Day in the Life
Implement and test the physical database environment, ETL process, business and presentation layers
Design, estimate, implement, document and test technical solutions to ensure that software meets the business needs, while in compliance with applicable regulations and processes
Develop necessary code to support the advancement of the data warehouse
Meet or exceed all project schedule milestones, cost and quality objectives
Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives
Identify and drive continuous software development process improvements initiatives
Conduct design and code reviews to ensure code developed meets or exceeds coding best practices guidelines
Takes pride in quality, extensible, and maintainable work products. Demonstrates excellent coding practices.
Commitment to achieving and exceeding project goals and timelines.
Thrives in working with other disciplines to develop system-minded implementations that take into account safety, performance, communication, user interface and other aspects of a final product.
Minimum Qualification
B.E or B.Tech in Computer Sciences, Electronics or Electrical Engineer or higher
8+ years of software engineering experience
Must Have Experience
VSTS/TFS/Azure DevOps, Microsoft SQL Server
Experience with SQL Server based Data Warehouses, including SSRS and Power BI
Strong experience with SQL
Strong knowledge of software design, development, debug and test practices
Problem-solving skills and creative thinking
Oral and written communication skills (technical documentation)
Nice to Haves
Experience with client server/database applications
Experience with database and schema design and translation to implementation
Experience working in software product development, from design inputs through execution
Experience with or knowledge of the Agile development par
Experience working in a regulated industry
Experience with healthcare data domain
Medtronic device knowledge desirable
Experience working in a dynamic environment
Principal Working Relationship
Reports to the Engineering Supervisor/Engineering Manager
Accountable to Principal or Senior Software Engineer(s) and/or Project Manager(s) for project-related responsibilities
The Engineer frequently interacts with Senior Developer, Tech Lead, other developers, V&V engineers, internal partners and stakeholders concerning estimations, design, implementation or requirement clarifications, works closely with global sites.
Communicates primarily with internal contacts within immediate group. Contacts others to gather, confirm and convey information
