Medical Officer Job Description
Male Candidate only.
We are looking for highly organized candidates with extensive experience in both medical
and management roles. Medical Officer is responsible for recruiting and training healthcare
physicians, ensuring that all staff adhere to safety standards and delivering the highest quality
of medical care.
Medical Officer is expected to act as mentors to their physicians and medical staff, requiring
good leadership qualities, patience and confidence. Medical Officers will assume
responsibility for the faults of their subordinates.
Medical Officer Responsibilities:
1. Meet the patient and explain the patient’s condition.
2. Conduct daily rounds of patients. Male doctors shall ensure presence of a female colleague or
a nurse if examining a female patient.
3. Assist in OPDs.
4. Inform the patient’s condition to the Consultant SOS.
5. Send appropriate tests and communicate with consultants.
6. Ensure completion of patient’s records at the time of discharge.
7. Respond promptly to ‘CODE BLUE’ announcements.
8. Ensure timely completion of prescribed medication and other vital procedures as may be
prescribed.
9. Prepare discharge summaries for patients under their care.
10. Comply with all Hospital policies & procedures.
11. Participate in clinical & non-clinical training programs organized by the Department & the
hospital.
12. Display professional behavior with patients, colleagues and other hospital staff.’
13. Assist in OTs, managing OT Schedule and planning, take care of Medical Equipments and
co-ordinate with the OT team and nursing staff accordingly.
DOCUMENTATION:
1. Document history & physical examination on the stop.
2. Write daily progress notes at least once in 24 hours and more frequently if patient condition
requires more frequent observations.
3. Shifting & receiving notes.
4. Write all orders in legible writing in the “Physician Order Sheet”, after confirmation with a
Senior colleague or Consultant.
5. Follow up on investigations sent and communicate results to the consultant. Document such
communication & the resultant necessary orders.
6. Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement.
7. To formulate the process improvement programs & carry on Quality Initiatives in the
department.
8. To perform all other tasks as may be assigned due to the exigencies of work.
All other job responsibilities of appropriate nature as assigned by the reporting head/ Hospital
authorities on behalf of the honorable management.

Medical Officer Requirements:
Medical degree.
Valid medical license.
0-2 years clinical experience.
Clinical risk management experience.
Good organizational skills.
