Job Description
Participates in all underground engineering activities as part of the Design Team
Must have excellent interpersonal skills, be a team player and have a knowledge sharing approach.
Must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team and manage challenging multi-cultural relationships across a range of entities.
Must be self-driven and able to plan and execute work under direct supervision from senior management and/or peers.
Assists in the reviews major changes or deviations in tunnelling project scope, project material quantities, Prebid design, Geotechnical Factual Report.
Must have good communication skills to write high quality technical reports
High professional standards and work ethics with a commitment to equality, diversity and sustainability.
Must to be flexible and adapt to working in a demanding environment, including the need to travel at site if/when required.
Lead the geotechnical team to ensure that deliverables are submitted on schedule and meet client
expectations.
Review geotechnical deliverables and manage the quality of contracted work.
Develop and deliver the geotechnical project management program including all the details of a project to the team members.
Ensure the progress of project is evaluated on a regular basis.
Review safety plans and ensure work is completed safely within company H&S policy.
Develop and monitor the project design schedule to meet Client and organisation objectives.
Responsible for managing the change process within the project design team.
Qualifications/Experience/Technical Skills:
Degree (Civil) or postgraduate (Geotech) qualification in engineering from an accredited university or equivalent qualification.
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from accredited University
Experience and proven ability to lead and manage geotechnical teams on large multi-disciplinary projects
Comprehensive experience of technical design and associated discipline software
Member of associated Professional body
Minimum of 3-8 years progressive experience in tunnel design and design checks for underground construction and slope stabilization in rock and soil.
Understanding of soil-structure interaction, finite modelling including their analysis, preparation and recommendations for foundations, retention system and Tunnel.
Experience of underground structure including design for rock and soil slopes for cuttings, portal faces, and open cut support measures include rock bolts and anchors, soil nail walls, bored piles, soldier piles and lagging, concrete retaining walls and reinforced soil.
General Knowledge of various tunnel construction methods, including cut & cover, semi- cut & cover and mining methods (NATM & TBM).
Knowledge of ground improvement methods for all types of soft ground, including groundwater drawdown, grouting, and ground freezing
