Responsible for the efficient operation and organization of all marine stores, store rooms, cages, lockers and chemical storage areas. Responsible for inventories that includes ordering, issuing and receiving of materials and equipment through AMOS.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for all stores and supplies in Marine department which includes deck,
technical, and hotel galley.
Responsible for maintaining an orderly and rational storage system, continuous
updating of spare parts, material and consumable stores.
Responsible for running AMOS “Stock Wanted List” once weekly, according to the
“Weekly Requisition Cycle” document, double checking proposed spare parts order
versus onboard stock. It is then directed to the Chief Electrical Engineer, Refrigeration
Engineer, 1st Engineer and Staff Chief Engineer for Engineering department and Chief
Officer & Staff Captain, Fire Fighter for Deck Department – for initial approval. Signed
copy of approved “Stock Wanted List” by supervisors must be filed. Final approval of
the requisition to be made by Chief Engineer and/or Staff Captain in AMOS.
Responsible for receiving all stores for both deck and engineering departments.
Making sure received parts are labeled correctly and placed in their designated area in
storage rooms as soon as possible and that same is marked accordingly to its store
location utilizing the AMOS system.
All received parts to be controlled against purchase order and signed out. Inquire
about missing or wrong deliveries to purchasing department.
Conduct actual inventory control of selected spare parts groups versus the AMOS stock
control according to the scheduled AMOS work-orders both for Marine and Consumable
items. These work-orders must not be overdue.
Monthly report on progress of component/spare parts inventoried in percentages must
be submitted to the Chief Engineer, and also leave copies to the
relieving storekeeper.
AMOS System to be kept up to date at all times on the spare parts and purchasing
side. Update new prices, delivery time and vendors as the information is available.
Must be able to organize and maintain various stores and chemical stores, valued at
approximately $8M per vessel, in a safe and appropriate manner, taking into account
ambient conditions to protect the Companies investment in inventories as well as
Regulations related to storage.
Supervise the activities and ensures the maximum efficiency in the performance of the
Asst. Engine Storekeeper.
Periodically evaluated the performance of the Asst. Engine Storekeeper and
recommends appropriate action such as promotions, disciplinary action or
commendations.
Suggests and develops own training methods to improve the efficiency, productivity
and performance of staff.
Initiates and maintains effective communication within the Technical Department and
all other departments with whom interaction is necessary.
Must be able to efficiently organize and supervise a staff of up to 2 persons.
Responsible to maintain the integrity of the stores and the accuracy of inventory,
quantity and location thus the stores must never be left unattended.
Adjustment of order levels has to be approved by the Chief Engineer or Staff Captain
together with purchasing department.
Report all budget discrepancies concerning incorrect charges or entries to the Chief
Engineer or Staff Captain.
Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific
duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related
to the position.
Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and the SMS, and
carry out the policies and procedures appropriate for his/her position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of three (3) years experience as a technical storekeeper in an industrial or
maritime environment is required.
Minimum of two (2) years experience as an Assistant Engine Storekeeper on a
cruise/cargo vessel is preferred.
Intermediate to Advanced level English verbal and writing skills, including the proper
use of English grammar is required.
Intermediate to Advanced skills in typing and computer software skills (Microsoft Word,
Excel, Fidelio Cruise, Micros) is required.
Basic level of skills using AMOS for Windows is a plus.
The incumbent must be able to work in a multi-cultural environment; also, must be able to
adjust to changes in schedules, assignments and deadlines.
EDUCATION
Bachelors Degree or Technical Diploma from an accredited Maritime Academy or
equivalent is required.
Position-specific STCW training from an accredited educational institution is required.
