Job Description
J.P. Morgan’s Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) is a global leader across banking, markets and investor services. The world’s most important corporations, governments and institutions entrust JPM with their business in more than 100 countries. We offer strategic advice, lend money, raise capital, help manage risk, extend liquidity, buy and sell securities and provide many other banking services in markets around the world.
Within the CIB, the Credit Risk department is responsible for managing a portfolio of investment grade and non-investment-grade client exposures generated by lending, derivatives trading, cash management and other activities with clients. The department leads the client credit relationship in partnership with CIB marketing teams from IB Coverage, Corporate Banking, Syndicated Leveraged Finance, Debt Capital Markets, Securitized Products, Sales & Trading and Wholesale Payments. The department ensures that all credit-related activities for the Bank’s clients are executed, approved, monitored and reported in a manner consistent with the Bank’s internal policies and guidelines. The Credit Risk department is organized by geographies. The Australia and New Zealand Credit Risk department works with a wide range of leading Australian and New Zealand based clients across sectors such as Energy, Natural Resources, Real Estate, Infrastructure, Aviation, Healthcare, Diversified Industrials, Technology, Telecommunications, Banks, and Insurance. Additionally, the Australia and New Zealand Credit Risk department has teams located in Sydney and Mumbai.
An opportunity has arisen in the Australia and New Zealand Credit Risk department for an Analyst based in Mumbai. The Analyst will be responsible for diligence, risk grading, and on-going monitoring and management of a complex portfolio of investment grade and non-investment grade corporate clients across diverse sectors. A successful candidate must possess the analytical skills needed to evaluate, assess, and document client creditworthiness and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
Prepare forward looking credit approval materials on new transactions and as well as reviews of existing client exposures
Provide insights into the client’s business and industry and identify any associated risk factors
Prepare and maintain three way financial models on new transactions and existing portfolio of clients
Participate in client due diligence process or investor calls as necessary
Recommend well articulated credit ratings backed by thorough analysis and in line with the firm’s credit risk policies and guidelines
Maintain awareness of developments in the portfolio under coverage and share relevant updates and credit implications with the senior credit officers
Take full ownership of the portfolio under coverage and process new transactions and annual reviews in JPM’s credit systems in a timely manner by coordinating with middle office and other stakeholders
Ensure risk ratings are accurate and reflect a current forward-looking view of the client
Provide early identification and proactive management of deteriorating credits under coverage
Prepare and review various credit and regulatory reporting requirements
Participate or lead adhoc risk projects or reporting requests as necessary
Experience/ Qualifications/ Knowledge :
A minimum of 2 years experience gained in Institutional Banking, Investment Banking or in a credit role at a Rating Agency
Strong analytical and financial modelling skills with ability to create three way financial models from bottom-up
Strong interpersonal skills and a sense of ownership with an ability to remain motivated while working in a team environment or independently on tasks
Strong attention to detail and ability to grasp concepts quickly with a keen interest in corporate finance and accounting concepts
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multitask and operate under a dynamic and inclusive work environment
High level of proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Undergraduate or a Post Graduate degree in accounting, business or a quantitative related discipline.
