Full Job Description
The goal of Data engineering Program is to provide solution and associated services for capture, storage, retention, and distribution of data within the WM space. The overall Platform provides solutions towards management of structured and unstructured data associated with core data and functional data within various work streams.
As a Database Specialist within the group
a) You will maintain the current database environments which are running mission critical workloads. This includes the production and their non-production instances as well.
b) You will serve as the Subject Matter expert for the systems and process for these environments
c) It is expected to have a proven track record of maintaining high-volume database application software, from initial requirements definition through deployment into production.
d) You will be part of the broader group that will help in uplift of the systems from current architecture to their strategic platforms
a. You will be coordinating with various development teams to help perform reconciliations between legacy and strategic systems – this will be a functional and non-functional reconciliations
b. You will be coordinating with various consumer teams to help de-couple dependency on legacy application and then decommission the said systems
Experience & Skills:
1) Bachelor’s Degree with specialized coursework in Computer Science or Management Information Systems
2) 6+ years of experience developing & maintaining enterprise-grade data integration solution
3) Good knowledge of Databases – both relational and No SQL – Oracle, Sybase, Hive, Cassandra & Mongo – at least 2 of these
4) You have expertise in data stores (both transactional and non-transactional)
5) Prior Database administration / specialist role experience required; 10+ years of experience ideal
6) Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous situations.
7) Ability to learn quickly, manage work independently and is a team player
8) Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies to ensure the early and continuous delivery of software
