Oracle DBA – Job Description
As an AWS RDS Oracle DBA, you’ll perform various Oracle Database Administration tasks like creating databases, performance tuning, monitor query execution plans , setting up replication with Golden Gate and optimize data loads. You will be responsible for overall health of Oracle database instances. You will support managed service of Amazon Oracle RDS and will be coordinating with application team and other downstream services on AWS platforms. You will utilize your AWS cloud computing expertise to meet the needs of clients using cloud native tools. The ideal candidate should have experience in DBA role on AWS platforms.
Responsibilities:
Analyzes, designs, engineers, installs, configures and supports Database Management systems (distributed, mid-range, mainframe) in support of business technology requirements;
Includes an in depth knowledge of a core database technology and its internals plus knowledge of development practices and automated solutions with focus on customer self-service through API enablement, provisioning, resiliency and database performance.
Partner with application development teams to create databases in Cloud & non Cloud database platforms.
Develop data migration plans to migrate legacy on-premises databases into AWS data stores.
Work on indexing, replicating and performing disaster recovery services across multiple AWS regions.
Writing, designing, testing, implementing and maintaining database applications using SQL or other database programming languages.
Provides guidelines/patterns for building highly scalable and performing systems in support of better service level objectives.
Monitor system performance metrics to identify potential risks/issues.
Responsible for coaching and mentoring less experienced team members.
Be the escalation point in 24×7 support as needed

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in an software engineering discipline
Strong critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills
Expert experience administering various multi-Terabyte, 24×7 uptime Oracle databases as a Systems/Infrastructure Database Administrator required
Strong experience working with Oracle versions 11gR1/2, 12c & 19c in a Linux environment
Current hands on working knowledge of AWS Databases such as RDS Oracle.
AWS Certified Database – Specialty (preferred)
Strong experience setting up & troubleshooting Golden Gate replication issues.
Expert experience as an Exadata “Database Machine Administrator” covering all of database, operating system, and storage administration
Experience with Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance is a plus
Strong, proven Oracle Database Performance Diagnostic skills (at both the SQL and system levels)
Experience with features such as Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Automatic Storage Management (ASM), Active Data Guard , Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and Golden Gate replication
Experience with Backup and Recovery using Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN)
Experience architecting, supporting and implementing advanced, strategic database management systems
Demonstrated ability to drive Agile development and implement automated process to improve database system reliability
Skill at troubleshooting complex problems
Advanced knowledge of IT infrastructure, with a background in systems and network administration
Proficient development skills in a dynamic programming language such as Python, JavaScript, .NET, Perl, PL/SQL, UNIX Shell Scripting. Also experience with Microservices is desirable
Proficiency in multiple business disciplines and functions and knowledge about the firm’s strategic direction
Demonstrated ability to deliver results and provide good customer experience
Proven ability to understand and guide the team to troubleshoot complex problems under pressure
