This role is for a Business Data Analyst. The DA should take full end-to-end responsibility for all analysis in their remit. They may be engaged in multiple projects and multiple teams simultaneously as delivery progresses towards the target-operating model.

The IB Business Services and Change – Cross Functional Change team exists to help inspire change in both systems and process within the wider IB teams. The group works very closely with many Client Lifecycle Management groups including Client Onboarding (COB) and KYCD; as well as Compliance, Legal and the central Regulatory team. The team works on multiple Client Data platforms across numerous projects.

Your skills and experience

The successful candidate should have 10+ years’ experience in a business data role in an Investment Bank or Consultancy, with demonstrable experience of the following:

Extensive experience of working knowledge of in Client Reference Data Systems and Understanding of Client data hierarchy along undertaking and driving independent analysis, making recommendations and supporting the associated business in those decisions
Understanding of the Client Lifecycle and associated topics such as KYC and COB along with characteristics of various data types (structured versus unstructured)
Advanced knowledge of modeling techniques for conceptual, logical and physical data models along with modeling normalized data structures
Familiarity with multiple database platforms such as Oracle, DB2 and SQL Server as well as legacy data architectures such as IMS and VSAM
Understanding of the different data storage/access models (transactional, data staging, operational data store, data warehouse, data mart, data federation) and choose the model(s) appropriate for client problems
Ability to work with data modeling and repository toolsets (including ERwin and other metadata management toolsets) to create work products
Knowledge of associated tools including ETL and business intelligence tools
Knowledge of data format standards, including industry standards (e.g. XMI for interchange of XML)
Ability to perform business analysis to help define solution options and recommendations, including pros/cons and rationale for recommendation
Work with Global business partners in understanding and translating requirements to the underlying data
Identify and document process changes and system improvements
Ensure process improvement through redesign is at the forefront of all initiatives
Establish positive relationships with various functions and businesses throughout IB
Facilitate working groups tasked with solving specific data challenges within the organization
10+ years of professional experience working in a related role
Deep technical, strategic and business analysis skills with the ability to tackle complex problems
Must be collaborative, innovative, curious, and resourceful, and exhibit a positive attitude
Strong desire to work on interesting projects with smart and creative people
Experience of Agile and waterfall methodology
Experience of dealing with senior management
Experience in achieving results in a project context using resources that do not report directly to you (e.g. from clients, from other-departments, external suppliers) along with working in multi-disciplinary teams and collaborating in a matrix environment.
Must have worked with technology groups and IT implementations
Proven-experience of optimally managing senior business partners in Working Groups

Essential

Bachelor’s Degree
Experience working with Banking/Financial Client Data areas and processes
Proficient at utilizing tools and technology to drive value for clients. Illustrative tools include the following;
ETL tools (e.g. Informatica, DataStage, Ab Initio)
Database management systems (e.g., MYSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata)
Data modeling tools (e.g., ERWin, ER/Studio, IBM Data Architect)
Proven knowledge of investment banking business processes – front to back, specifically Client Onboarding and KYC/AML processes.
Proficient in analyzing client reference data
Experience with ATLAS Jira and Confluence
Experience with using HPALM software for testing purposes
Strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency for detailed documentation
Self-starter, self-guiding, hardworking and can demonstrate independent thinking
Comfortable dealing directly with senior internal clients
Proven-ability to make recommendations to ensure data quality and appropriate controls
Experience with the standard SDLC lifecycle as well as Agile Methodology
Outstanding analytical, relationship building, core project management, presentation, organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills

Desirable

Knowledge of the banking regulatory environment.
Knowledgeable of Trade lifecycle (Order, Execution, Allocation)
Knowledgeable of operations along with securities types and their settlement processes
