Job Description:
JOB PURPOSE:
To provide overall information services and technology infrastructure for Service Centers and/or Business Unit customers in order to support critical business and process requirements; manages staff, applications development, integration and support, and the computer technology used in various organizations throughout the worldwide Caterpillar extended enterprise.
JOB DUTIES:
Reporting to this position are IT Supervisors, Senior IT Supervisors, Technology Specialists, Information Systems Specialists, a Business Manager, and the various applications, technical and operations staffs within the Service Center or Business Unit IS organization.
This role also ensures standard work is monitored, supported and communicated to ensure the scope of services achieve and maintain compliance to internal policies and procedures, including those relating to sustainability, cybersecurity, SOX, and IT General Controls.
Directs Information Services functions for distributed computing systems (mainframe, personal computer, client server, and/or Internet) at Service Centers and Business Units. This includes managing the staff and projects related to developing business and technical solutions and implementing common operating procedures to provide process functionality and the requisite infrastructure to enable effective, efficient, economic services. Directs implementation of hardware and software infrastructure components to maximize common process and minimize costs by efficiently controlling the infrastructure environment. Provides direction for determining systems requirements, hardware and software acquisition and problem resolution to assist the business unit(s) in defining solutions and making recommendations to management for approval.
May provide corporate leadership and coordinate corporate development of integrated systems solutions with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other application development groups. Coordinates and provides system reliability and resources to support the day-to-day operation of a Business Unit or Service Center to deploy and support distributed computing systems and processes.
This would include system controls, programs and processes to ensure adequate backup, business resumption plans and security solutions to resolve core and local issues. Develops business plans supporting customer objectives.
Challenges of the position are allocation of staff and computer resources to ensure the most appropriate and efficient systems solutions, cost effective development and deployment of common operating environment and quality services at best cost and appropriate security levels. Customer dependence on the reliability and availability of applications and infrastructure is critical to the successful operations for the Business Unit and/or Service Center.
Employee may also be responsible for performing other job duties occasionally as assigned.
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:
Requires a relevant degree and 10-15 years of progressively complex IS experience generally gained through staff and supervisory assignments in Information Services and related areas. Requires general understanding of basic business operations including the technical infrastructure and one or more of the following: general business processes, parts warehousing and distribution, dealer processes, manufacturing, and engineering functional applications. The incumbent must have ability to provide strategic direction for effectively managing staff, budgets, business plans, one-year project plans and developing 2-5-year plans with customers and IS. Requires ability to work with diversified departments along with effective oral and written communications skills. The incumbent must have a strong customer focus.”
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior and proven leadership experience
Knowledge / experience in finance / accounting systems
6 Sigma Black Belt / Master Black Belt certification
Working knowledge of multiple coding technologies. E.g., COBOL, .net, SaaS, Distributed, RPA, AWS, Azure.
Experience managing multiple, large-scale service/support contracts
Experience with cybersecurity and risk remediation
Excellent communication skills
Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate a Global Team
Able to travel up-to 20%
