This role will support Financial Crime Data and Analytics team efforts in building and implementing a data lake which will promote and facilitate a data-led approach for the identification and disruption of financial crime activities.
Self-driven technical individual with expertise in data processing projects with hands on experience on Spark and Hadoop Technologies
Responsible for technical solutions and design of a large enterprise wide Hadoop based data platform
Define and develop Solution architecture by proposing and designing systems; defining database structures and functional capabilities, security, back-up, and recovery specifications.
Effective liaison with Architect forums and Administrators; responsible to publish technical artefacts and ensure their adaptability on scalable platform.
Maintains system and related database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems
Experience in mentoring and coordinating technical deliverables of data warehouse projects.
Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Operational Risk Framework and Policies and Standards.
What will you be doing?
Technical Design and development of ETL/Hadoop and Analytics services /components
Understand the end to end architecture and process flow
Understand Business requirement and involvement in design discussions
Result oriented approach with ability to solve issues
Proficient in performance improvement & fine-tuning ETL and Hadoop implementations.
Conduct code reviews across projects. Takes responsibility for ensuring that build and code adhere to architectural and quality standards and policies.
Able to lead technical discussions in ETL.
Works with relevant Technology project managers and solution architects / lead solutions architect, responsible for ensuring that the technical deliverables are consistent with the original solution specified by the technology office and BIIS.
Adhering to Barclays policy and standards.
Building and maintaining an expert understanding of the various stages of software development, enhancements, and support.
Providing guidance and assistance to colleagues.
Identifying and implementing areas of improvement for self and team.
Able to assist other team members and peers within other technology teams.
What we’re looking for:
Bachelor’s Degree
Hands On developer with 11+ years of IT experience.
Experience in managing a Team and Scrum Methodology.
Excellent Knowledge of industry/market trends in the AML / Financial Crime space
Hands on experience in Spark, Scala & Java technologies.
Exposure to Cloudera or any other Hadoop Platform, implementing Data Lake and analytics services.
Proficient in DevOps /automation frameworks.
Can train, mentor and guide developers for scalable solutions.
Skills that will help you in the role:
Very Good communication and organizational skills
Promote Automation, reusable components
Financial Crime or Compliance experience is preferred
Ability to understand business requirements and design software solutions.
Strong data analysis skills and ability to present the findings to the business users.
Quick learner; strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to deal with numerous tasks simultaneously and with frequently changing priorities.
Financial background is highly preferred.
Demonstrable ability to communicate and build relationships with members of the business and technology communities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be independent and creative in approach to problems and issues; assertive, tenacious, proactive
