Seeking a qualified Environment manager to coordinate test environments for multiple application development groups. Configuring Test environments for both isolated subsystems and end-to-end environments using a mixture of cloud-based infrastructure and bare metal systems. Test environments support a continuous release schedule across multiple groups. Platforms supported include Java, .NET, and a number of dynamic languages all running on applications servers integrated with several relational databases running DB2, Oracle, and SQL Server. Test environment managers will interact with project managers, Test manager and senior technical engineering managers to sequence projects for testing on a limited number of testing environments.
Candidates must have demonstrated the ability to understand modern approaches to deployment automation on both cloud-based infrastructure and bare-metal servers and work closely with release managers and release engineers to track the availability of limited testing resources. Technical tasks such as deployment and database administration will be a product of close collaboration with engineering resources and database specialists, but candidates should have an overall grasp of the work-effort involved to setup and configure operating systems, networks, databases, and application servers involved in the creation of end-to-end testing environments. Candidates will be managing the coordination of efforts to configure environments and tracking the status of environment configuration activities.
What will you be doing?
Leading the strategic direction of the environment team, across multiple projects and programmes, in the disciplines of environment engineering.
Driving and co-ordinating the deployment of software and hardware changes whilst ensuring the consistency and availability of environments to support the existing project portfolio
Cultivating strong, collaborative working relationships with the wider IT and business functions as well as 3rd parties, ensuring that deliverables are aligned to overriding requirements and expectations.
Significant experience with Continuous Integration tools and industry best practices
Experience controlling testing environments and configuration management
Ownership of core policies, processes and standards including the development and maintenance of appropriate controls in order to identify and mitigate internal issues and/or risks.
On-going development and evolution of key metrics and reporting mechanisms in order to monitor progress and overall team performance.
Be fully up to date and proactive around ensuring working knowledge of latest testing methodologies, tools, standards and industry best practices
Have a wealth of experience in both automated and manual testing techniques and well as Functional and Non-Functional testing experience.
Possess experience in Environment Management, ideally leading through periods of large-scale transformation
A working knowledge of Windows, SQL and Unix servers is also desirable.
Ability to work autonomously and work in an undefined environment and be self-sufficient in delivery.
Experience liaising with Development, QA, Production, and Business users.
Monitor and guarantee uptime of test environments
Provide ongoing support for test environments
What we’re looking for:
Environment configuration and debugging issue
Security controls include SSL, encryption standard and implementations
Experience on API, RestAssured, Karate, SOAPUI
Log parsing skills
Hands-on experience is a must in at least one or more technical skills under any of the technology platforms
Open Systems and tools – Java, Jenkins, Web-services, APIs, Service Virtualization – CA LISA
Good knowledge of design/build/support activities in Cloud – Openshift infrastructure.
Should have experience of CI/CD pipeline support for DevOps team
Experience on provisioning Infrastructure in Physical, Virtual and Cloud environments
Knowledge on Change & Release Management
Hands on experience working on aPaaS env, Mid-Tier technology – MQ, WebSphere, UNIX, API 3rd party hosting platforms
Knowledge on SeeTest , Appium for Mobile Application Environments
Experience with Jenkins, Git/Stash
Experience in monitoring tools like Tableau
Hands on experience on Incident and Change Management
Added advantage of Programming skills – Java, Python, Ruby and Groovy
Experience of working in an Agile environment.
Familiar with Jira/Confluence
AWS certified or relevant Experience, including AWS Cloud Formation.
Hands on working knowledge around AWS managed services
Build the AWS environment through automated scripts
Skills that will help you in the role:
Agile and DevOps processes and toolsets. Also Effectively managing risks, issues and dependencies; status reporting and escalation. (Preferred) Understanding of Retail Banking especially the Mortgage business
