Full Job DescriptionJob purpose
As a Senior – Business Analyst you will act as a link between the Development Team and Product Management Team / Customers gathering functional requirements and translating them to technical requirements for the development and implementation of new products and enhancement of existing products.
This role will also be expected to collaborate with internal technical leads/architects/designers to collaborate on the overall solution approach and design. An individual filling the Senior – Business Analyst role should be comfortable being introduced during a pre-sales or project engagement and can articulate possible solutions applicable to a set of customer requirements.
What will you do?
Lead requirements gathering activities
Analyzes business requirements submitted by Product Management Team or customer and define the development requirements.
Provides functional/technical assistance in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements
Discover, organize, and clarify business needs and review/produce specifications for change
Conduct business process modelling and generate applicable scenarios for the testing team.
During the development phase, this role will work closely with developers and project managers to ensure that the requirements are being met.
During the implementation or project launch, this role will work with other internal departments as needed to ensure all elements of the launch come together to support quick adoption by new and existing customers.
Expected to become a product functional subject matter expert (SME)
Support developer resources, QA resources, and functional support staff by assisting with functional questions.
Travel nationally and internationally to meet with airline customers (typically 5%)
What do you need to know?
6-10 years of experience as a Business Analyst
Exposure to structured software development lifecycle
Experience of delivery in an Agile environment
Experience in the travel industry (preferably in airline distribution or global distribution system (GDS)
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and across different audiences.
Good self-management skills, including ability to escalate issues in a timely manner and work to deadlines.
A bachelor’s degree in IT or Computer Science or equivalent
Preferred Skills/Experience
Experience in XML and XSD (XML schema definition)
Experience with software tools like Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, etc
Some experience as a software developer
