About the Role
As the International Payroll Accounting Manager in India, you will be overseeing the International Payroll Accounting processes performed by your internal direct reports and by the external GBS team, including all journal entry preparation and GL account reconciliations, in conjunction with the International Payroll Delivery Center (IPDC) team in India, and the Payroll Strategy and Planning team, and Payroll Accounting team members in Dallas, TX.
You will also coordinate with the Global Head of Payroll on Global Payroll initiatives, and work closely with upstream partners of Payroll such as our People Ops, PeopleApps, Financial Risk Management, Financial Reporting, Strategic Finance, Global Benefits, Equity, Compensation, Mobility, Cash Mgmt, Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Legal, and also external consultants to ensure compliance.
What You’ll Do
Be responsible for prioritizing and communicating objectives, setting goals, and coordinating the efforts of the Payroll Accounting Team members as they research and resolve tax and compliance issues, prepare payroll journal entries and reconciliations, participate in projects, and complete quarterly and annual audit and compliance responsibilities
Ensure timely and accurate responses to field questions from internal and external teams and agencies by appropriately delegating and allocating work among team members
Coordinate with the Global Head of Payroll and Payroll GPO team to implement new initiatives and processes to improve the Global Payroll function
Confirm required controls are completed and validated as part of routine international payroll accounting activities; raise any exceptions or discrepancies related to the application of business controls to management
Monitor and evaluate processes designed for control and compliance of international payroll accounting activities to ensure consistent on-time completion and accuracy
Contribute to initiatives to drive operational excellence, including sox audit, compliance, six sigma and other approaches across the Global Payroll team
Contribute to the strategic direction and metrics reporting for the Global Payroll team
Keep international payroll accounting activities documentation up to date (e.g., data collection templates, processing schedule, checklist, DTPs, intranet)
Coordinate with the Global Head of Payroll and Payroll GPO team to ensure appropriate documentation for operational process and procedures are in place and adhered to in a manner consistent with Global Payroll standards
Maintain knowledge, legal requirements, and government reporting regulations affecting Payroll compliance
Participate in new system implementations and process improvements related to international payroll accounting processes and perform user acceptance testing
Provide guidance to and share knowledge with international payroll accounting team members relating to payroll compliance
Coordinate with the Global Head of Payroll and Payroll GPO team to ensure that adequate and consistent business continuity and recovery plans are in place
Provide inspiration, guidance, work direction, positive performance management, and support to maintain a high performing, collaborative team environment
Complete annual performance reviews, and work with team members on steps for career advancement
Partner with the Financial Risk Management team, internal auditors, IPDC and LATAM payroll team during the SOX control and internal audit planning and testing phases. Provide guidance to IPDC and LATAM payroll throughout the engagement with FRM and internal auditors.
Partner with the Financial Reporting team together with the Global Head of Payroll during the various workshops and planning of the annual external PWC audit. Agree upon timeline, deliverables and PBC list ahead of the audit. Lead the engagement with various stakeholders relevant for the audit including HR, PeopleOps, Benefits, Compensation as well as IPDC and LATAM payroll team.
Review and monitor the month-end/quarter-end and year-end close activities including being part of the approval process for the journal entries and reconciliations.
Monitor the Stock Based Compensation (SBC) Withholding Tax (WHT) feed from Equity SFTP to WorkDay (WD), perform sanity check of the data received via WD and provide the receipt confirmation or flag errors to Equity team at the beginning of every month as soon as the integration has been completed.
Consolidate the WD SBC WHT data received from Equity team via WD at entity level and provide the instruction to Intercompany team for IC booking by the end of every month (BD-2).
Manage the engagement of GBS support service model with the global GBS management team as well as the GBS team members within the International Payroll Accounting & Compliance team
What You’ll Need
BA/BS degree in a relevant field (Accounting or Finance preferred)
A minimum of 10 years of professional experience and at least 4 years in a similar position.
6+ years of experience managing a team
Experience with multiple Payroll providers and systems.
Ability to manage and inspire a team by assigning goals and responsibilities, assisting with technical questions and issues, provide guidance on day-to-day and project activities with a positive outlook, assess strengths and weaknesses, provide constructive feedback, and mentor for career growth.
Ability to exercise considerable judgment in building relationships across all regional levels and functions, and become the trusted and influential resource for North America Payroll to discuss functional topics and drive toward best practices
Strong subject matter expertise of international payroll processes and compliance, with experience coordinating with Benefits, Stock Admin, and Accounting
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data
Excellent organization skills with attention to detail and completeness
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple complex cross-functional projects given competing priorities and perspectives, and ensure that deadlines are met
Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, deductive reasoning, and analytical skills, resulting in solid recommendations for process improvement and issue resolution
Business process improvement skills to drive automation
Ability to develop standard operating procedures and technical documentation for training and user support
